Newsletter June `24

"Job Action Project"

At the end of June, the number of participants in the project was 15 young people, so there are no vacant places. We were able to place one participant in a job on 1 July 2024 and two participants in an internship.

In June, preparatory work continued in the wood workshop for the palisade fence in the Celtic village. After debarking the tree trunks, the participants drilled a hole at the end of the trunk to make the fence more stable.

The team transported the finished tree trunks to the Celtic village and began building the fence. Another focus of the work was on smaller repair measures - such as plastering the houses.

Individual and group discussions and support planning were organised by the socio-educational support team. We also created individualised application documents with the participants and provided support in sending them out.

We also continued our training courses this month. A training course on waste separation was held by the district administration on 6 June 2024.

On 26 June 2024, we visited the training exchange at Betzenberg in Kaiserslautern with the young people.  140 companies took part. During the visit, the participants visited the stands, sought advice and took away information material.

Literacy training was continued in German lessons. The young people's understanding of the language has already improved thanks to their regular participation in lessons.

Newsletter Mai`24

"Job Action Project"

At the end of May, the number of participants in the project was 12 young people, meaning that three places are still vacant.

One participant has ended the project due to taking up employment, two other participants are currently completing an internship. Interviews with interested young people are planned for the beginning of June.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't lenient with us this month either. The erection of the fence therefore had to be postponed.

To this end, the participants diligently carried out maintenance work in the Celtic village. The entire area was mowed and tidied up with a brush cutter. The paths in the Celtic village and in front of the mud houses were also cleaned.

The preparatory work for setting the fence continued in the workshop. This included debarking the felled tree trunks.

Socio-educational support was provided in the form of individual and group discussions. Two participants were placed in a work placement and supported during company visits. Individual application documents were also prepared and sent out with the participants.

Another participant was taken on as an employee following his successful internship and therefore left the programme.

The second part of the skills training was carried out with the participants. The training focussed on strengthening teamwork skills through practical exercises. The young people enjoyed taking part in the exercises.

Another training session was on the topic of ‘Europe and me’ and the upcoming European elections.

In German lessons, alphabetisation with the letters A-J and reading and writing training were continued.

Newsletter April `24

"Job Action Project"

At the end of April, the number of participants in the project was 13 young people, meaning that two places are still vacant. One participant has left the project due to lack of co-operation.
Two interested parties have been invited for initial interviews.

Despite the very changeable weather, the participants continued to work diligently on the Celtic village project. The steps on a dilapidated staircase were replaced and the demolition of the palisade fence progressed.

Another task was to maintain the area. Leaves were collected, the grass was cut back with a brush cutter, cleared and transported to the landfill.

On 4 April 2024, SWR Kaiserslautern visited us to produce a report about Job Action. The reporter accompanied us at work in the Celtic Village and interviewed our instructor and the two participants. The article was published on SWR Aktuell under the link Jugendliche ohne Job helfen im Keltendorf am Donnersberg - SWR Aktuell.

Socio-educational counselling again took place on a case-by-case basis. Two participants were placed in a work placement and company visits were organised.
Another participant was able to accept employment on a mini-job basis following his successful internship.

A training session was also held on the topic of skills training - Part 1. The participants practised various units on fine motor skills (individual work), communication training (partner exercise) and an attitude test (concentration exercises, general knowledge, logical thinking).

On 25 April 2024, an external lecturer from the Donnersberg district administration held a training course on the topic of saving energy and conserving resources.

The German course for beginners with literacy training started in April for our non-German-speaking participants.
Participants take part in the lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Newsletter March `24

"Job Action Project"

At the end of March, the number of participants in the project was 14 young people, so one place is still vacant.  One participant left the project due to taking up an integration language course and one participant due to taking up employment. We were able to welcome two new participants in March welcome.

Together with the participants, trees were felled in the forest for the Celtic village project. The participants diligently helped to load the felled tree trunks and transport them to the Celtic village. In the next step, they will be used to build the palisade fence.

Work also progressed well in the Celtic village. The wood supplied for the construction of the bridge was cut to size. Another work step was connecting the individual bridge elements with screws.

The socio-educational support team again held many discussions and focussed on the application process. Attention was paid to the application process. Two participants were placed in an internship. Contact was made with the job centre and employment agency on a case-by-case basis.

The German course was continued this month as an advanced course. Here German language skills could be further expanded and deepened. Thematically, we dealt with the Federal Republic of Germany as part of social studies, an offer for the advanced participants. A beginners' course with literacy training will start in April for all other participants.

As part of the training sessions, we discussed with all participants the rights and obligations of
rights and obligations of trainees as well as financial management.
